Want to go on a hike with us?
We started by the train tracks.... The fields have been filled with yellow flowers lately. It's like everything bloomed at once.
We then trudged up the hill and found this little path that cuts back west to the water. Not a strenuous hike at all, this was pretty flat once we were on the trail.
Then we got to where we could see the water ahead of us again:
and it got windy and cold!! But so pretty! That's La Jolla in the distance...
Here are the waves below where are when we walk along the beach:
After that path we decided to head back to the main road and continue all the way to the top of the hill. There is a Torrey Pines Lodge up there! We never knew about that. We made it to the top, turned around and started back down to the beach. On the way we saw a hang glider:
Then we got a better view of him as we turned the corner:
We walked back along the beach and under the train tracks back to our car. It was a really nice break in the middle of the day and a memorable part of the weekend. Hope you had a great one too!

Summer?
We went for a long walk by the beach yesterday, and seriously wondered if it had somehow become summer all of a sudden. The temperatures were in the 70s at least and we walked for about an hour and a half. It was great to be out in the sun and feel the sand, surf, and see all the happy people. If I had known how gorgeous it was going to be, I would have worn my swim suit! I luckily left my sweatshirt in the car, but it was breezy when we got out of the car, so I thought about bringing it with me, but was so glad that I didn't. If we had taken water with us, we probably would have kept going for another hour or so! I wish I was more motivated to get up in the mornings and go to the beach to walk. It's about a 7 minute drive to the beach, so it would really be possible, that is if we could wake up early! Today was the first real morning of Daylight savings time and it felt like the alarm was going off at the crack of dawn. I reset it for another half hour of sleep and then hit snooze once... so really 45 minutes of extra sleep than planned. But we got up and made it off to work relatively close to the regular time. Hopefully it will start to feel normal soon!
I am dying for my scrapbooking stuff that still hasn't come in the mail. I am getting antsy and I even went to one of the scrapbooking stores here in SD to see if they had anything good. Unfortunately they looked like they could go out of business any minute, which was a total bummer. I didn't buy anything because it all looked really picked over. Hopefully my stuff will come soon! :) Hope you are having a great Monday!

folks coming to visit this weekend. Crystal and Ryan Whitlatch are heading out for hear break before her final quarter of ASU MBA. (Probably the only time that ASU will be mentioned favorably in this blog...) But they are lucky to have Crystal and she's almost done! Woo hoo! Congrats girl- you're amazing.

Welcome weekend.
The sun setting over the pacific ocean... what says relax and weekend more than that? I can't believe how beautiful it is out there. I got some fun shots, but I always tend to like the random ones the best. This one of footprints above is just really interesting to me. This area is right where the water from the San Diego area where we live empties into the ocean. It's hard to know where the freshwater ends and the saltwater begins.
